Epee Club Members Take Medals At British Veterans Fencing National Championships

EC members were out in force at the weekend at the British Veteran's Fencing National Championships held at the Manchester Fencing Centre. Gold medals abound with both the Women’s and Men’s Epée titles going to EC members.

In a closely fought match Mark Burkhalter outwitted fellow Epée Club member Hugh Kernohan to take the title. Mark also took the Men’s cat. 1 Gold Medal. Hugh taking the silver place overall also won the Cat. 3 Gold Medal.

Fellow club members competing in the competition: Greg Allen 5th, Nigel Fancourt 13th, Neal Thomas 18th, Anton Pollard 21st, Kola Ayanwale 28th, Rob Brooks 44th.

In the Women’s Epée, Epée Club member and Veteran World Champion Georgina Usher, dominated the field defeating Christine Steiner in the final.

Other club members competing the Women’s Epée: Sue Brooks 24th, Sue Uff 28th, Mariette Mason 32.

As a warm up to the main event on Saturday, two club members decided to take part in the foil on the Friday. They were Sue Uff and Sue Brooks finishing 15th and 22nd respectively.
